About Me

I'm Stacy - an Army wife, and a stay at home mom to my 7 year old Lovebug. I spend my days homeschooling, doing at-home OT, gluten-free cooking, taking photos, reading, blogging, doing fun science projects, going on field trips & managing the home. I also enjoy sewing, scrapbooking & crocheting and need to make more time for those.

I'm passionate about my faith, my family, my friends, foster parenting, adoption (one day!), advocating for special needs, nature, the beach, and CHOCOLATE! More details about me & my family

The military does not cause poverty

This may not be a popular post, but I feel like writing it, so bear with me while I express my opinion.

A while back I saw a petition going around for people to sign trying to get free internet for deployed soldiers.  As people sign, they can also leave a comment.  I had trouble accepting . . . → Read More: The military does not cause poverty

Homemade Detective Kit

Since Lovebug’s birthday fell right in the middle of her Science Detective Camp I thought it would be fun to give her a present that went along with the theme.  I didn’t want to spend much money because the camp itself was her main present, but I also wanted something for her to open.  I was . . . → Read More: Homemade Detective Kit

Our latest bargain!

We came home with this today!

I always said I would never get one of these things! But that was mostly because they are crazy expensive and I just don’t think a young child needs to have their own car that costs as much as many people’s car payments!

However…I couldn’t pass up this bargain!  . . . → Read More: Our latest bargain!

Yard Sale Season!

I love a bargain, and do my best to avoid paying full retail for most things.  Thrift stores, flea markets & yard sales are like exciting treasure hunts for me.  This past weekend, there was a post-wide yard sale.  That meant lots and lots of yard sales all over post.  What fun!  Normally, I would have . . . → Read More: Yard Sale Season!

I blew it!

I went to the grocery store this afternoon (sans kids thanks to Hubby’s grandmother!) to grab a few things.  Ok, several things.  However, I didn’t take my normal list which is an Excel spreadsheet with each item listed next to how much it costs (rounded to the dollar, I’m not that neurotic!).  I also didn’t take . . . → Read More: I blew it!

Big Savings with Big Tex at the State Fair!

The Texas State Fair is almost here!  It opens on September 24 and runs though October 17.  The food, the rides, the gadgets for sale (that I love to see but never buy), the arts & crafts, the animals, the pyrotechnics!  We look forward to it every year.  You all know I love to be frugal . . . → Read More: Big Savings with Big Tex at the State Fair!

Bringing back the Mason jars!

I read this post by Pioneer Woman the other day, and felt a twinge of nostalgia.  I’ve always loved Mason jars, and similar glass jars, bowls, etc.  I love looking at antique stores at the old milk glass or depression glass and seeing all the beautiful colors, textures, and shapes.  I don’t own much, but . . . → Read More: Bringing back the Mason jars!
