About Me

I'm Stacy - an Army wife, and a stay at home mom to my 7 year old Lovebug. I spend my days homeschooling, doing at-home OT, gluten-free cooking, taking photos, reading, blogging, doing fun science projects, going on field trips & managing the home. I also enjoy sewing, scrapbooking & crocheting and need to make more time for those.

I'm passionate about my faith, my family, my friends, foster parenting, adoption (one day!), advocating for special needs, nature, the beach, and CHOCOLATE! More details about me & my family

I have a dream!

Today is the day that we honor the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. – a man who stood up for his beliefs and wanted better for the world around him. He dared to dream of something better – a world where people would love each other for the people they were, not judge each other . . . → Read More: I have a dream!

Christmas Blog Carnival – Day 2

The topic for Day 2 was my “Favorite Christmas Dessert”, and we were supposed to share the recipe.   I don’t have a specific recipe, but I do have a dessert tradition that is definitely my favorite to share with you all!  Every year at Christmas, we make a “Happy Birthday” cake for Jesus and sing . . . → Read More: Christmas Blog Carnival – Day 2

Christmas Blog Carnival – Day 1

This week Wives of Faith is hosting a Christmas Blog Carnival! I loved participating in this last year and am excited to do it again because it’s a great way to meet other wives through their blogs.

Christmas Advent

December is upon us (did that seem to sneak up on anyone else?), and we are now in the season of Advent.  Advent is the time of waiting and preparing to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, on Christmas Day.   In order to count down this period of time, our family uses a wooden . . . → Read More: Christmas Advent

Black Friday: Where greed prevails over decency

I am in shock.  I’ve been watching a few videos online of Black Friday footage shot by people right in the middle of the chaos, and I am in complete shock.  I know this isn’t the first year this has happened, but I just can’t get over the lengths people will go to and the depths . . . → Read More: Black Friday: Where greed prevails over decency

Give me a break!

Why is it so much easier to give others a break, to cut them some slack, to extend grace to them – but it’s so hard to do it for yourself?

I have been fighting a chest cold for the past week and it is wearing me out.  I absolutely despise coughing! It hurts, it’s annoying, and . . . → Read More: Give me a break!

A very different kind of Thanksgiving

Growing up, Thanksgiving was always a time to get together with lots of friends and family.  Big crowds, lots of food, lots of talking and a few people falling asleep on the sofa after too much turkey and pie – good times, although often exhausting!!

Now that Rob and I are on our own away from . . . → Read More: A very different kind of Thanksgiving

Christmas Gift Challenge: Give more, Spend less

Yes, I know it’s not Christmas time yet, and I’m all for waiting until after Thanksgiving…but, I know many of you will be doing some big shopping the day after Thanksgiving, so I wanted to get this posted before then.

Last year I wrote about my Top 10 list of low-tech, low-cost gifts that kids will . . . → Read More: Christmas Gift Challenge: Give more, Spend less

Happy Veteran’s Day!

Veteran’s Day is a day to honor and remember anyone who has served our country in the military – past or present.  Unlike Memorial Day, which is to honor those who gave their life for our country, Veteran’s Day honors those that have passed or are still alive.

Today, on 11-11-11, Lovebug and I joined with . . . → Read More: Happy Veteran’s Day!

Halloween 2011

October was a busy month for us! We participated in several Fall & Halloween activities and had so much fun! I can’t possibly share all of the pictures I took, but here are some of my favorite highlights!

While my parents were visiting, we went to a local pumpkin patch
