About Me

I'm Stacy - an Army wife, and a stay at home mom to my 7 year old Lovebug. I spend my days homeschooling, doing at-home OT, gluten-free cooking, taking photos, reading, blogging, doing fun science projects, going on field trips & managing the home. I also enjoy sewing, scrapbooking & crocheting and need to make more time for those.

I'm passionate about my faith, my family, my friends, foster parenting, adoption (one day!), advocating for special needs, nature, the beach, and CHOCOLATE! More details about me & my family

Last day with a Kindergartener

Lovebug and I continued our Mommy-Daughter weekend by spending Labor Day doing absolutely nothing except having fun.  I soaked up every minute I had with my little girl because the next day we were starting school and I wanted to enjoy my Kindergartener as long as I could!

Here is a little glimpse into our day, . . . → Read More: Last day with a Kindergartener

Homeschooling with SPD: Handwriting / Language Arts

One of the hardest things for me when teaching my daughter is the huge ability gap between different subjects, or even within a subject.

For example, she reads on at least a 3rd grade level.  It’s likely higher, but I haven’t ventured any higher because it’s hard enough finding age appropriate content in a chapter book.  Thankfully, . . . → Read More: Homeschooling with SPD: Handwriting / Language Arts

Slow start returning to school

After taking a couple weeks off of our regular school schedule, I was looking forward to getting back to it today.  It’s funny because it’s so easy to get out of our routine and then it’s hard to get back to it.  Yet, both Lovebug and I do much better when we have . . . → Read More: Slow start returning to school

A Colorful Day!

Lovebug and I have been having a lot of fun incorporating Christmas into our school work!  Many of our Christmas activities come from the 1+1+1=1 website! This is one of my all time favorite homeschooling/preschool/early elementary idea sites…EVER! I am so very thankful that she provides so much of her hard work for . . . → Read More: A Colorful Day!

One of my favorite things about homeschooling…

…is being able to do this!

After getting the day’s worth of school done before 11:00 AM, Lovebug wanted to go out and enjoy the rain….and we could!! She grabbed her rain boots, rain jacket, and her umbrella.  I think the umbrella was just for show though, because she opened it then promptly . . . → Read More: One of my favorite things about homeschooling…

Flexibility is the key!

We are officially starting our Kindergarten year tomorrow.  Lovebug is so excited that she begged me to give her school work to do today!  In preparation for this day, I’ve spent the last couple months trying to get Little Bear on a decent schedule so that I could plan our days better.  . . . → Read More: Flexibility is the key!

Singing in the rain!

Fall is almost here.  It’s so close I can almost smell it.  I can’t wait! The last couple days have been very rainy here and the temperature today was a good 15-20 degrees cooler than it has been.  LOVE it!  I don’t even care about getting wet.  I just want to enjoy the cooler temperature.  The . . . → Read More: Singing in the rain!

Our Kindergarten Curriculum 2010-11

We are officially starting school next week the day after Labor Day.  I’m so excited and looking forward to getting back into the daily routine.  I wanted to post what curriculum we are using this year.  I’ll check back in from time to time with how each of these are going and . . . → Read More: Our Kindergarten Curriculum 2010-11

Flashcards galore!

Lovebug LOVES flashcards! She gets absolutely giddy with excitement over a new package.  Take her ability to read and remember information, combine it with being a visual learner, and a box of flashcards are like an encyclopedia in a box!

The Target dollar spot was a treasure chest for us today.  Flashcards, flashcards, . . . → Read More: Flashcards galore!
